FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method and apparatus for treating iron-containing material using a melting furnace in a liquid bath. Iron-containing raw material is mixed with a reducing agent and an additive; the mixture is loaded into a melting furnace in a liquid bath. Bath is blown with oxygen-enriched air and melted at 1200–1600 °C. In the iron-containing material containing TFe, V2O5 and TiO2, the mass fraction is 30–65 % TFe, mass fraction of V2O5 is 0–2.0 % and mass fraction of TiO2 is 0–35 %. Additive represents at least one element selected from a group consisting of sodium carbonate, sodium sulphate, sodium chloride, sodium borate, sodium bicarbonate and dolomite. Weight ratio of iron-containing material and reducing agent is equal to 100:(20–60).
EFFECT: invention ensures high quality of the product, low power consumption, low environmental contamination, efficient and complete use of the iron-containing resource.
