FIELD: veterinary medicine.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions refers to veterinary science, in particular to a fodder composition and methods for reducing the amount of indoles and body weight increase in a feline with renal insufficiency. Composition for domestic animals contains fermentable fibres and betaine. Fermented fibres contain a mixture of short-chain fructooligosaccharides (scFOS) and beta-glucan. Beta-glucan is present in amount of 0.1 to 0.2 wt. % by weight of the fodder composition. Fermented fibres are present in molar ratio scFOS and beta-glucan from 2:1 to 4:1. Betaine is present in amount of 0.03 wt. % up to 1 wt. % by weight of the fodder composition. Methods envisage application of the fodder composition.
EFFECT: use of the group of inventions enables reducing the number of indoles and increasing body weight in felines suffering renal insufficiency.
