FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to machine building, particularly, to internal combustion engines. Combustion chamber of internal combustion engine with compression ignition is formed by cylinder surface, piston with stepped surface of bottom, and cylinder cover. In the cylinder cover a partition is installed, dividing at start-up of the engine the combustion chamber into two isolated volumes: the main and additional, in which increased compression degree is created due to that piston has ledge entering additional volume at piston position in TDC. Partition is made from material having shape memory effect. Prior to starting the engine, the partition has low temperature, is bent off the surface of the cylinder cover and is located vertically, forming an additional chamber. After starting the engine and the open flame in the cylinder, the partition is heated, a martensite transformation occurs in its material, and the partition changes its shape, is pressed to the surface of the cylinder head and is located horizontally, thus opening the entire volume of the combustion chamber.
EFFECT: invention provides higher reliability of start-up of internal combustion engine.
