METHOD FOR DIFFERENTIAL DIAGNOSIS OF IODINE-DEFICIENCY AND IODINE-INDUCED THYROID DYSFUNCTION IN INDIVIDUALS LIVING IN REGIONS WITH IODINE DEFICIENCY Russian patent published in 2020 - IPC G01N33/48 A61B5/00 A61B6/03

Abstract RU 2728261 C2

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to endocrinology and clinical medicine. For early differential diagnosis of iodine-deficiency or iodine-induced thyroid dysfunction, a complex examination involving ultrasonography of the thyroid, determination of blood levels of pituitary thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) and free thyroxine FrT4, X-ray computed tomography (CT) with thyroid tissue density its definition in Hounsfield units (HU). Thyroid status is assessed on the basis of obtained ultrasound data, blood level of TSH hormones, FrT4, units of Hounsfield density, establishing presence of iodine and hormone deficiency or excess iodine, as well as thyroid hormones directly in thyroid gland, wherein iodine deficiency shows thyroid density of up to 85 units HU and lower, if iodine is in excess, thyroid density is 140 units HU and higher.

EFFECT: method provides higher accuracy of differential diagnosis of iodine deficiency or iodine-induced thyroid dysfunction.
