FIELD: biochemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a genetically modified canola or soybean plant which produces oil, containing eicosapentaenoic acid in amount of 0.01 to 10 % by weight of total fatty acids, to its seed, as well as to oil produced from said seed. Also disclosed is a nucleic acid construct for producing a genetically modified plant which produces oil containing eicosapentaenoic acid. Invention also relates to a method for producing a genetically modified canola or soya plant which produces an oil containing eicosapentaenoic acid.
EFFECT: invention enables to efficiently obtain oil containing eicosapentaenoic acid in amount of 0_01 to 10 % by weight of total fatty acids.
