FIELD: biotechnology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to biotechnology and represents a variant of acetohydroxy acid synthase, where in a large subunit of acetohydroxy acid synthase (a large subunit of acetolactate synthase; protein IlvB) 96th amino acid (threonine) is replaced with an amino acid different from threonine, 503rd amino acid (tryptophan) is replaced by an amino acid different from tryptophan, or both amino acids, 96th amino acid (threonine) and 503rd amino acid (tryptophan), are replaced by another amino acid. Invention also relates to a method for producing a branched-chain L-amino acid using such a version of acetohydroacid synthase.
EFFECT: invention enables to obtain L-amino acids with a branched chain with high efficiency.
