FIELD: chemical or physical processes.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a method of producing methanol from synthetic gas, as well as to a reactor layout for its implementation. Method comprises the following steps: providing fresh compressed gas for synthesis of methanol containing hydrogen, carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide, which is preheated and passed through an adiabatic methanol pre-converter / safety reactor, in which synthetic gas is partially converted to methanol in the presence of a heterogeneous methanol catalyst, and poisonous impurities from the fed gas are removed,—providing a recycle gas stream from the synthesis circuit, containing partially converted gas for synthesis of methanol, and mixing part of recirculation gas flow with fresh synthetic gas, if necessary, as in case of partial loading, to obtain process gas flow,—cooling process gas flow from preliminary converter / safety reactor to temperature allowed for main converter, and supply of cooled flow of process gas into said main methanol converter, and—separation of crude methanol from synthesis circuit, wherein the adiabatic outlet temperature in the converter / safety reactor is controlled by the recirculation gas operational adjustment, i.e. volumetric gas feed rate (GHSV) in the pre-converter.
EFFECT: proposed invention makes it possible for operators of installation to reliably control converters with adiabatic layer even at partial load.
