FIELD: metallurgy.

SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to metallurgy, specifically to methods of producing heat-insulating mixtures and compositions used in continuous steel casting. Heat-insulating mixture contains, wt. %: biomedicine 35–75, limestone 5–10, carboxymethyl cellulose 0.01–0.02, microsilica is the balance, at that limestone fraction is 0.1–0.5 mm. Method of producing heat-insulating mixture involves drying biomolecular silica and microsilica, their dosage and mixing. After drying of biomass silica and microsilica, their moistening with 1–2 % aqueous solution of carboxymethyl cellulose and feeding to loading conveyor, dosage of components is performed with a screw dosing device on a loading conveyor, further mixing of biomass silica and microsilica with limestone with fraction of 0.1–0.5 mm is performed continuously in a drum furnace at simultaneous drying. Increasing adhesion of components, reducing dust release when using the mixture, eliminating grinding during mixing of components, eliminating formation of liquid slag in the mixture when in contact with the melt.

EFFECT: heat-insulating mixture is characterized by high process and heat-insulating properties.
