SUBSTANCE: group of inventions refers to a bacterial strain—L. plantarum GOS 42 (DSM 32131) and its use in medicine. Disclosed is a strain of microorganism Lactobacillus plantarum GOS 42 (DSM 32131) for treating or preventing inflammation. Also disclosed is a composition for treating or preventing inflammation. Group of inventions provides reducing and/or inhibiting the release of one or more inflammatory factors selected from a group consisting of interleukin 1 (IL-1), interleukin 6 (IL-6), interleukin 8 (IL-8), tumor necrosis factor (TNF), prostaglandin E2 (PGE2), isoprostanes, matrix metallopeptidase 9 (MMP9) and NF-κB.
EFFECT: what is presented is a strain of probiotic bacteria Lactobacillus plantarum and compositions containing same, and application in treating inflammation.
