FIELD: optics.
SUBSTANCE: invention discloses optical fiber and colored optical fiber. Disclosed optical fiber comprises a glass portion made from quartz glass and having a first outer diameter; and a cover part around the glass part. Glass part includes central core area, containing Ge and having a difference of relative refractive indices Δ1 with respect to pure quartz glass; optical shell layer arranged around central core area, containing fluorine and having a difference of relative refractive indices Δ2 with respect to pure quartz glass; and a coating layer, located around optical shell layer and having difference of relative refractive indices Δ3 relative to pure quartz glass. Differences of relative refractive indices have ratio Δ1>Δ3>Δ2, average value of first outer diameter in longitudinal direction is in range of 125±0.5 μm, and 3σ is in range of 0.1 to 0.5 mcm, where σ is the standard deviation of the first outer diameter in the longitudinal direction.
EFFECT: technical result is reduced loss of Rayleigh scattering and, consequently, low-attenuation properties.
