FIELD: smoking accessories.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions finds specific application as a cartridge assembly containing a nicotine source and an acid source for generating an aerosol containing nicotine salt particles. Cartridge assembly for use in an aerosol-generating system, wherein the cartridge assembly comprises a cartridge and a mouthpiece. Cartridge comprises a cartridge body and a casing. Cartridge comprises a first compartment having a first air inlet and a first air outlet, and comprising a second compartment having a second air inlet and a second air outlet. Casing contains third air inlet, third outlet for air, a fourth air inlet and a fourth air outlet, wherein the cartridge housing is displaceable within the housing. Mouthpiece has a mouthpiece for holding the cartridge. Cartridge body is configured to shift relative to the housing from the first position, in which the housing blocks each of the first air inlet, the first air outlet, the second air inlet and the second air outlet, into the second position, in which the third air inlet is in fluid communication with the first air inlet, third air outlet is in fluid communication with first air outlet, fourth air inlet is in fluid communication with second air inlet and the fourth air outlet is in fluid communication with the second air outlet. Cartridge assembly is designed so that when the cartridge is inserted into the mouth of the mouthpiece, the cartridge body moves from the first position to the second position. Aerosol-generating system comprises said cartridge assembly and aerosol-generating device. Aerosol generating device comprises a device cavity configured to receive an upstream end of the cartridge assembly, and a heater for heating the first compartment and the second cartridge housing of the cartridge assembly.
EFFECT: group of inventions is characterized by providing a cartridge assembly for use in an aerosol generating system, in which one or more volatile compounds can be retained during storage without using detachable or brittle partitions.
