SUBSTANCE: invention relates to power supply lines arranged along railroad track for vehicles with electric traction. System for traction power supply of AC railroads comprises contact network including two contact wires, traction substations with three-phase transformers, traction rail connected with one of phases of three-phase transformer, electric rolling stock with current collection devices installed on electric rolling stock, having contact surfaces and connected with contact wires along contact surface. Current collection devices are fixed on the rolling stock so that their contact surfaces face the side surface of the contact wire, ensuring its contact with the contact wires along the side surfaces of the contact wires.

EFFECT: technical result is higher efficiency of traction power supply.
