FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to processing solid fuels to produce combustible gas, including synthesis gas, and can be used for processing organic fuels with poor gas permeability, prone to unstable combustion with formation of channels. Disclosed is a method of solid fuel gasification, which includes loading of solid fuel into upper part of vertical shaft reactor, supply of oxygen-containing gas in lower part of reactor in shortage relative to fuel, performance of pyrolysis and combustion of solid fuel in counterflow of gas, discharge of gaseous products of combustion and pyrolysis from upper part of reactor, measurement of temperature on walls of reactor and unloading of solid residue of combustion from lower part of reactor. Maximum temperature of the process is maintained in the middle part of the reactor; a portion of the gaseous combustion and pyrolysis products are extracted from the upper part of the reactor and this part of the gaseous combustion and pyrolysis products is forced into the middle part of the reactor. Some gaseous products of combustion and pyrolysis are fed into the middle part of the reactor through a row of tuyeres uniformly distributed around the circumference in the middle part of the reactor. Device for implementing said method is also disclosed.

EFFECT: technical result is stabilization of position of combustion zone in reactor along vertical and achieving uniform distribution of process along reactor section.
