SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of pyrolysis and gasification of solid fuels to produce a combustible gas and can be used to process various solid fuels to generate energy and produce associated target products, for example, caked solid material. Method for producing a combustible gas from a solid fuel is carried out in a reactor 1 including a sealed housing provided with thermal insulation, at least five horizontal communicating hearths, a charging device in the upper hearth 3 and a discharge device in the lower hearth 14, an oxygen-containing gas supply device, an igniter device, and a gaseous product outlet. Oxygen-containing gas supply device 17 and the ignition device are located on the upper hearth, and the outlet device for the gaseous products 20 is located in the hearth not higher than the third from above and not lower than the third from below, while oxygen supplying device 21 and/or water vapor and/or water in the liquid phase are further arranged in the lower hearth 14.

EFFECT: technical result is the production of a generator gas free of pyrolysis resins.
