FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: disclosed group of inventions relates to a coated cutting tool and a method for production thereof. Plating of cutting tool includes PVD-layer (A), which is a compound of formula MexSiyAlzCaNbOc, x+y+z=1, 0≤a≤1; 0≤b≤1; 0≤c≤0.2; a+b+c=1; and 0≤x≤1; 0≤y≤0.4; 0≤z≤0.1; or 0≤x≤1; 0≤y≤0.1; 0≤z≤0.75. Me represents one or more metals of groups 4, 5 and 6 of periodic table of IUPAC elements. PVD-layer (A) is deposited by cathodic-arc evaporation with application of pulse bias voltage from −40 to −450 V to substrate, and using a duty cycle of less than 12 %, and pulse shift frequency of less than 10 kHz. PVD-layer (A) has a crystalline structure, having full width value on half of peak (FWHM) for (111)-pic of cubic structure in X-ray diffraction pattern, making ≤0.3 degrees (2 theta).
EFFECT: providing a cutting tool with a coating, having improved adhesion properties to the substrate, resistance to shearing and improved wear resistance, such as resistance to well wear and/or wear resistance on rear surface.
