FIELD: tools.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a cutting tool with the obtained chemical vapor deposition (CVD) coating. Said cutting tool comprises a cemented carbide, or cermet, or ceramic substrate, or cBN and a coating that contains at least one layer κ-Al2O3 thickness 1–20 microns, in which the diffracted x-ray radiation χ-Canogram of intensity distribution along the axis χ scan angle from -80° up to 80° for reflection from the crystallographic plane (0 0 6) of said layer κ-Al2O3 has the largest diffraction intensity peak with center 0° and the full width at half maximum (FWHM) of < 25°.
EFFECT: cutting tool with a coating layer is provided κ-Al2O3, which has improved cutting properties during turning, milling and/or drilling, as well as improved resistance to peeling wear during turning and milling of steel.
