FIELD: spectroscopic systems.
SUBSTANCE: disclosed system and method for measuring optical density in whole blood comprises an optical sampling module, which comprises: light-emitting module with an LED light source, configured to emit light, wherein light is directed, thereby determining an optical path; detachable cuvette unit next to light-emitting module, which is configured to receive a whole blood sample and has a sample receiving chamber with a first cuvette window and a second cuvette window aligned with the first cuvette window. Sample receiving chamber is located on the optical path for receiving light from the LED light source and has a certain length of the optical path between the first window of the cuvette and the second window of the cuvette. Disclosed method and system also include an electronic chip configured to store a path length value through a sample receiving chamber; and a light calibration module with a light source for calibration with one or more known wavelengths of light, wherein light calibration module is configured to emit light for calibration to optical path; optical fiber with light-receiving end and light-emitting end. Light-receiving end is optically connected to the optical sampling module. Light-receiving end receives light emitted along the optical path and carries light into the light-emitting end. Spectrometer module configured to receive light from the light-emitting end of the optical fiber, separating the light into a plurality of light beams. Each light beam has a different wavelength and converting a plurality of light beams into an electrical signal; and a processor module configured to receive the path length value through the sample receiving chamber from the electronic chip and receiving and processing the electrical signal from the spectrometer module, generated for the whole blood sample and, taking into account the path length through the sample receiving chamber, conversion of the electric signal to the output signal, suitable for displaying and displaying values of the hemoglobin parameter and/or values of the total bilirubin parameter for the whole blood sample.
EFFECT: technical result is elimination of measurement errors.
