FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to laboratory diagnostics, and can be used for diagnosing primary hyperparathyroidism. Total calcium, phosphorus in peripheral blood is determined. Content of parathyroid hormone is additionally determined in it. Index of primary hyperparathyroidism IPHPT is calculated by formula: IPHPT=(Catot×P)/PTH×100, where Catot – level of total calcium in blood plasma, mmol/l; P is phosphorus level in blood plasma, mmol/l; PTH – level of parathyroid hormone in blood plasma, pg/ml. If IPHPT is less than or equal to 2.46, presence of primary hyperparathyroidism is stated. If IPHPT is more than 2.46 – on absence of disease.

EFFECT: method provides the possibility of biochemical diagnosis of primary hyperparathyroidism by determining a phosphorus-calcium ratio and determining a single integral index reflecting the ratio of total calcium and phosphorus to parathormone.
