FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to surgery, ultrasonic diagnostics, and can be used for examination of parathyroid glands with subsequent surgical intervention. Thyroid and parathyroid ultrasound are examined 60 minutes before the surgery. If observing a pathologically changed parathyroid gland, 2 ml of 0.4% indigo carmine is introduced into the surrounding fatty tissue.
EFFECT: method enables to avoid unnecessary inspection of other parathyroid glands and reduce the risk of recurrent laryngeal nerve damage, as well as reducing the size of the operative approach and reducing the length of the surgical intervention by marking the pathological changes in the parathyroid gland.
