SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of biotechnology. Invention is a method involving collection of plant fragments and sunflower seeds with signs of phomosis damage in different phases of plant development, isolating cultures of a pathogen from collected objects, obtaining monospore cultures of isolates of a pathogen and determining their species, sowing in a greenhouse of seeds of several genotypes of sunflower, differing in tolerance to phomosis, and obtaining 10-day plants, sifting monosporic cultures of isolates into petri dishes with uniform distribution of pycnospore on the surface of nutrient medium in them, contamination with 14-day culture of each isolated isolate of cotyledons and fragments of hypocrisy 10-day sunflower plants, allowance for degree of defeat of cotyledon leaves and fragments of hypocotyls, use of a mixture of aggressive isolates as an inoculum in artificial infection of plants in selection of sunflower for resistance to phomosis.

EFFECT: invention enables selection of the most aggressive Phona isolates for artificial infection of sunflower with phomosis in selection for resistance to this pathogen.
