FIELD: computer equipment.
SUBSTANCE: method for determining a potential fault of a storage device intended for processing a plurality of transactions, executed by a computer of a supervisory element, associated with a storage device, comprising determining a subset of input/output (I/O) operations directed to a storage device for processing; use during a predetermined period of time of the counter to determine the actual time of activity of the storage device, approximately corresponding processing time in memory of at least part of subset of operations I/O; applying a predetermined model to generate a control processing time estimate for each transaction from a subset of transactions; calculating a control processing time for a subset of the I/O operations; generating a performance parameter based on the actual activity time and the control processing time; performance parameter analysis; and determining the presence of a potential fault of the storage device based on said analysis.
EFFECT: technical result consists in detection of potential malfunction in memory device during predetermined period of time.
