FIELD: rail vehicles.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the railway transport. Method of controlling power efficiency of a freight train locomotive consists in determining the energy consumption for traveling a freight train along a given section of the track taking into account its equivalent slope and with correction for energy losses on harmful descents. Obtained energy consumption data are compared to the actual energy consumption, and the locomotive thermal state is determined from the discrepancy value. When determining the correction for energy losses on harmful descents, it is determined for each trip when maximum permissible speed of the train is reached at the end of descent, and for each of such descents, a coasting path and a braking path are determined. Ramps overcome at the specified section of the road without traction are excluded. For harmful descents in determining the equivalent slope of the section, a total run-out path is selected, on which there is no accumulation of kinetic energy.
EFFECT: higher accuracy and reliability of determination and control of efficient consumption of energy resources at traction.
