METHOD OF TREATING MUSCULAR TONIC DISORDERS OF CHEWING MUSCULATURE Russian patent published in 2020 - IPC A61K38/00 A61P21/00

Abstract RU 2731694 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, particularly to dentistry and neurology, namely to a method of treating musculo-tonic disorders of chewing musculature. Method involves preliminary examination of patient, drug-induced treatment with botulotoxin type A and orthopedic treatment, wherein the preparation is introduced symmetrically and in equal doses into the muscles participating in the act of chewing from both sides of the face: in masseter muscles and temporal muscles, in dose of 25 units per each muscle, wherein the injections are carried out in 2 points equidistant from the muscle center, symmetrically on both sides, and in the medial pterygoids in one point, located in the center of the muscle symmetrically on both sides in dose of 10 units, wherein the total daily dose of botulotoxin type A is 120 units for the entire therapeutic course. Injections are performed once in the beginning of therapeutic course, which is 4 months, and not earlier than two weeks after administration of botulotoxin type A silicone tray is made for symmetric unloading of musculo-articular complex of temporomandibular joint. Tray is used for night wearing and during the day outside of food intake. In 4 months, a repeated examination is performed to assess the effectiveness of the integrated treatment and, if necessary, repeated introduction of botulotoxin type A and continue the orthopedic treatment, and while maintaining complaints and clinical manifestations of dysfunction course is repeated until complete disappearance of musculo-tonic dysfunction of chewing musculature.

EFFECT: proposed method of treating musculocutaneous disorders of chewing musculature enables maximum relaxation of chewing musculature and promotes formation of normal function without dysfunctional and tonic disorders.
