FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to orthodontics, and is intended for use in determining a central position of the lower jaw in the patients with a TMJ disorder. Patient's upper and lower jaws are scanned with an intraoral scanner, or plaster models are scanned. Digitized images are placed in a Cad-Cam program in a virtual articulator in the position of maximum contact of the dentitions. Then the dentitions are separated in accordance with the Shimbashi index. Next stage is the virtual modelling of the tray, which can be performed on both upper and lower jaws. Working element of the tray is an inclined plane for anterior teeth, which is modelled in accordance with the angle of the sagittal articular path, defined by intraoral or extraoral axiography using an axiograph. After virtual simulation of tray, it is made of plastic on milling machine.

EFFECT: method enables simple and fast determination of the central position of the lower jaw in the patients with the TMJ disorder, which improves the quality of treating the patients with the given pathology.
