FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to X-ray-surgical methods of treating idiopathic pulmonary hypertension. Before the operation, an invasive pressure measurement in the right and left atrium is performed, and a cardiac output of the left ventricle is measured. Diameter of interatrial communication is determined in a device implanted into an inter-arterial partition by formula:

where: D is the diameter of the interatrial communication in the device implanted into the inter-atrial septum, mm; Qp/Qs is ratio of pulmonary blood flow to system blood flow equal to 0.9; μ – mathematical constant for laminar flow of liquid equal to 0.1; SV is cardiac output of the left ventricle, ml; RAP is right atrial pressure, mm Hg; LAP is pressure in left atrium, mm Hg.

EFFECT: method enables selecting the optimal diameter of interatrial communication in the implanted devices in the interatrial septum, providing the improved quality of life of the patients with pulmonary hypertension.
