FIELD: cutting tools.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a cutting tool with coating. The specified cutting tool contains substrate made of cemented carbide and coating. Cemented carbide contains WC and a binder phase containing one or more from Co, Fe and Ni. Substechiometric carbon content (hereinafter – SCC) in cemented carbide is -0.13 wt.% ≤ SCC < 0 wt.% or -0.30 wt.% ≤ SCC ≤ -0.16 wt.%. Coating contains one or more layers (A) of metal carbide, metal nitride or metal carbonitride and an aluminum oxide layer. Metal is at least one from Zr and Hf, wherein, in the specified one or more layers (A), there is optionally Ti in the amount of no more than 10 at.% per metal amount. One or more layers (A) are located between substrate and the aluminum oxide layer.
EFFECT: cutting tool with coating is obtained that has perfect resistance to formation of comb cracks, in particular, during milling.
