FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to mass-spectrometry. Device for transporting ions in sources with ionization at atmospheric pressure comprises an ion emitting surface and an outlet diaphragm (nozzle) electrically connected to independent power sources. Between the emitting surface and the outlet diaphragm (nozzle), an additional diaphragm (counter electrode) is coaxially located under the independently controlled constant voltage, and nozzle (outlet diaphragm) is electrically connected to independent pulse power supply with controlled amplitude of voltage to voltage of counter electrode (additional diaphragm). Device allows to obtain pulse flow of charged particles from continuous flow in process of their transfer from emitting surface in non-uniform constant electric field and flow of contiguous gas to outlet diaphragm (nozzle), separating ion source region with atmospheric pressure from analyser vacuum system. During synchronization of pulses of charged particles and operation of a time-of-flight mass analyser, sensitivity of the device can be increased tens of times.
EFFECT: technical result is possibility of obtaining more intense flow of charged particles entering analyser.
