SUBSTANCE: evaporation unit for an aerosol generating system comprises a heating element and a delivery device for delivering a liquid aerosol-forming substrate from a liquid storage portion to a heating element. Heating element is located at a distance from the delivery device and is configured to heat the delivered liquid aerosol-forming substrate to a temperature sufficient for evaporation of at least a portion of the delivered liquid aerosol-forming substrate. Heating element is a sheet heating element, which is fluid-permeable and comprises a plurality of electrically conductive threads, and the delivery device is configured to spray the aerosol-generating substrate onto the sheet heating element in the form of a sprayed jet with dimensions and shape corresponding to geometrical parameters of the sheet heating element. Group of inventions also relates to an aerosol generating system comprising said evaporation unit, as well as to an aerosol generation method.
EFFECT: group of inventions provides an evaporation unit which enables to control the amount of the evaporated aerosol-forming substrate contained in the generated aerosol.
