SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to an aerosol generating system comprising a liquid storage part, intended for storage of liquid aerosol-forming substrate and comprising a movable wall and an outlet; evaporator, comprising heating element, having a structure forming an internal channel with an open end for heating the deposited liquid aerosol-forming substrate; pump, configured to deliver a liquid aerosol-forming substrate from an outlet of the liquid storage portion to an inner channel of the heating element and comprising a step-type micromotor with a drive shaft, which is configured to rotate by a predetermined value when one step is made with a step-type micromotor, a piston connected to the movable wall, and a lead screw connecting the drive shaft to the piston and configured to convert the drive shaft rotation into the axial movement of the piston and into the corresponding axial movement of the movable wall, wherein the evaporator is configured to heat the delivered aerosol-generating substrate in the inner channel to a temperature sufficient for evaporation of at least a portion of the delivered liquid aerosol-forming substrate. Present invention also relates to a cartridge for an aerosol generating system comprising a liquid storage portion, a piston and a lead screw. Present invention also relates to an aerosol generation method.
