FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: catalysed by metal alkoxycarbonylation of lactone is a method of alkoxycarbonylation δ-lactone, in particular 3-ethylidene-6-vinyl tetrahydro-2H-pyran-2-one. Method includes combining δ -lactone with an alcohol in an organic solvent in the presence of a catalyst system which contains palladium or a salt thereof, to form a reaction mixture, which is heated at temperature of 110 to 130 °C and pressure of 20 to 50 bar for 3 to 5 hours in flow of gaseous carbon monoxide. Reaction product is substituted 2-octendioate diester. Alcohol can be methyl alcohol, n-butyl alcohol, 2-ethylhexanol, isobutyl alcohol, isopropyl alcohol, benzyl alcohol or phenol. Solvent can be toluene, acetonitrile or tetrahydrofuran. Method may include adding an acid to the reaction mixture, which can be a diluted (approximately 5 mol. %) sulphuric or p-toluenesulphonic acid. Catalytic system contains a phosphine ligand. Invention also relates to a novel alkoxycarbonated δ-lactone of formula given below, where R is selected from a group which is methyl, n-butyl, 2-ethylhexanyl, isobutyl, isopropyl, benzyl and phenyl.

EFFECT: disclosed is a metal-catalysed alkoxycarbonylation of lactone.
