SUBSTANCE: invention relates to magnetic assemblies and layers with optical effect (LOE) on substrate as counterfeit protection means on protected documents or articles or for use in decorative purposes. Described is a method of producing LOE, involving depositing on a substrate a radiation-curable composition containing a non-spherical magnetic or magnetisable pigment particles, exposure of the magnetic unit to the magnetic field to provide orientation of the pigment particles and curing with fixation of said pigment particles in the positions received by them and with the orientations adopted by them. LOE provides an optical impression of a loop-like body having a size that varies as the LOE. Products containing LOE are also described; magnetic assembly for producing LOE; a printing unit comprising a magnetic assembly, and its use for producing LOE.

EFFECT: invention provides more effective protection of valuable documents and articles from forgery and illegal reproduction.
