FIELD: document protection.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the protection of valuable documents and valuable commercial goods from forgery and illegal reproduction. A method for producing a layer with an optical effect on a substrate involves applying a radiation-cured coating composition containing non-spherical magnetic or magnetizable pigment particles to the surface of the substrate.To ensure the orientation of at least part of these particles, the radiation-cured coating composition is exposed to the magnetic field of a magnetic assembly containing a loop-shaped device generating a magnetic field, which is either a single loop-shaped magnet or a combination of two or more dipole magnets located in a loop-shaped arrangement. In this case, the loop-shaped device that generates a magnetic field has a radial magnetization. The specified composition is at least partially cured with the fixation of non-spherical magnetic or magnetizable pigment particles in their accepted positions and orientations. In this case, the layer with the optical effect provides an optical impression of one or more loop-shaped bodies, the shape of which varies when the layer with the optical effect is tilted. A layer with an optical effect, an object representing a protected document or decorative element, a magnetic assembly for obtaining a layer with an optical effect, the use of this magnetic assembly and a printing device are also proposed.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to provide protective features in the form of a bright loop-like effect on the substrate, which are easy to test, but difficult to reproduce in mass production using equipment available for the forger, and which can be provided in a large number of different shapes and types.
