SUBSTANCE: invention relates to protection of documents from counterfeit and illegal reproduction, such as, for example, banknotes and identity documents. Invention discloses a method of producing an optical effect layer (OEL) having one or more signs (×30), on substrate (×20), wherein said method includes a step of exposing layer (×10) a coating comprising non-spherical magnetic or magnetizable pigment particles, to the magnetic field of the device generating the magnetic field, with orientation of at least a portion of the magnetic or magnetizable pigment particles; stage of application of composition for final coating on top of layer (×10) coating and in the form of one or more signs (×30) and a step of at least partially curing the layer (×10) coating and one or more signs (×30) using unit (×50) curing.
EFFECT: invention provides a method of producing adjustable optical effect layers exhibiting one or more characters in a universal manner, but also on an industrial scale, wherein said optical effect layers exhibit an eye-catching effect and a high rate of production.
