SUBSTANCE: invention relates to modified hyaluronic acid (HA) and to a method for production thereof. Disclosed is a glycerine-modified hyaluronic acid derivative (HA) or a salt thereof, in which at least a primary hydroxyl group at C6-carbon atom in all or part of N-acetyl-D-glucosaminic links in HA is converted into ether-bonded glycerol-containing fragments. Said glycerol-containing fragments are attached to C6-atom of carbon of N-acetyl-D-glucosamine links in HA in such amount that derivative contains from 1 to 100, preferably from 5 to 50 of said glycerine-containing fragments per 100 repeating disaccharide links in HA. Also disclosed is a method of producing said hyaluronic acid derivative (HA) or a salt thereof. Method comprises dissolving HA in aqueous alkaline solution to obtain dissolved HA, adding glycidol to dissolved HA, reaction of glycidol and HA to obtain a glycerol-modified HA derivative and isolating said glycerol-modified HA derivative.

EFFECT: invention is aimed at obtaining a HA derivative with optimal viscoelastic properties, biocompatibility and non-immunogenicity, provides prolonged retention of effect and excellent degree of volume increase, ease of injection through thin needles.
