FIELD: nanotechnologies.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to nanotechnologies and specifically to methods of producing nanosized materials which can serve as photocatalysts in oxidation of organic contaminants present in water and air, and can be used in chemical, pharmaceutical and textile industries. Method of producing nanosized zinc oxide involves electrochemical oxidation of zinc electrodes in an electrolysis cell in an electrolyte solution. Process is carried out under the effect of asymmetric variable pulse current with average value of anode and cathode current density of 1.2÷2.4 A/cm2 using as electrolytes sodium chloride, potassium chloride or sodium sulphate at synthesis temperature of 55÷60 °C followed by filtration, washing with distilled water and drying at temperature of 80 °C to constant weight of end product.
EFFECT: obtaining pure nanosized zinc oxide in one step without subsequent thermal treatment, and using different electrolytes enables varying particle size in a wide range.
