SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of controlling at least one illumination device in space. Result is achieved by method 800 intended for control of at least one lighting device 110 in space. Method 800 comprises a step of receiving 802 a first user input associated with a light setting parameter, a second user input perception stage 804 indicating the direction relative to the user input device 104, the information obtaining step 806 indicating the orientation of the user input device 104, a step of obtaining 808 information indicating location of user input device 104, step 810 for obtaining information indicating location of one or more lighting devices 110, determining step 811, based on the locations of said one or more lighting devices 110 and the location and orientation of the user input device 104, location and orientation of user input device 104 relative to said one or more lighting devices 110, determining step 812, based on said location and orientation of user input device 104 relative to said one or more lighting devices 110, whether lighting device 110 is located in said direction, control command generation step 814 for lighting device 110 based on light setting parameter and step 816 of transmitting a control command to illumination device 110 to control lighting device 110 according to light setting parameter.

EFFECT: technical result is providing a lighting system for controlling illumination devices in space by a directed user input, without the need for preliminary configuration and commissioning of lighting devices.
