FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to paediatrics, rehabilitation of paediatric neurosurgery, and can be used for optimization of nutritional support of children with spinal cord injury during rehabilitation measures both in hospital and out-patient conditions. Method comprises: assessing nutritional status, calculating energy requirements of rest, calculating true power inputs, calculating protein requirements, estimating consumed ration, calculation of active operation time, development of motor rehabilitation program based on assessment of patient's individual capabilities, selection of a method for correction of nutritional deficiency. Method of calculating nutritional support in children with a vertebral-spinal injury is based on determining true energy consumption and actual protein requirement. True energy consumption is calculated based on indirect calorimetry or Harris-Benedict equations to determine rest energy consumption with use of correction factors for time of motor activity, taking into account volume and time of motor activity of patients.
EFFECT: use of the method enables personalizing the nutritional support program taking into account the time and volume of active rehabilitation measures, adequately replenish macronutrient needs and avoid complications related to insufficient or excessive consumption of them with active rehabilitation.
