FIELD: electricity.

SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to an actuator driven by an engine and consisting of a housing with an input for power supply, which includes: an electric motor with connections for receiving current from an electrical source; control unit; drive gear for connection of driving external device with electric motor and temperature sensor intended to register measured temperature T inside the housing. When the driven external device is connected to the drive transmission, the actuator is in the active state, that is the electric motor operates and drives the external device, and in inactive state, that is electric motor does not operate and does not drive external device. Control unit is configured to: obtain data from temperature sensor representing measured temperature T immediately after power is supplied to actuator; comparison of measured temperature T with specified temperature Toff; heating program activation if T < Toff and actuator in inactive state. Heating program is configured to pass current from source of electricity through electric motor for generation of heat inside electric motor and control of electric motor so that it remains practically fixed, without actual movement throughout the heating program. Present invention also describes a method of operating an actuator driven by an engine.

EFFECT: technical result is creation of actuator, which allows to reduce engine wear and increase its service life.
