FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to hydrocarbon processing. Described is a method of reducing total content of sulfur in oil or fuel oil, involving a purification process by providing a combined rotation in a reactor of a mixture of feedstock in the form of oil or fuel oil and reagents, in which ferromagnetic fluid taken in amount of not more than 5 wt% is used as reagents, initial raw material and ferromagnetic liquid are mixed with formation of homogeneous mixture, obtained homogeneous mixture for treatment is fed into reactor with ferromagnetic elements inside it and provides rotation of homogeneous mixture of initial raw material and ferromagnetic liquid together by ferromagnetic elements in a rotating electromagnetic field, characterized by frequency 50 Hz three-phase alternating current network voltage 380 volts, by magnetic induction in working area of reactor 0.9–1.1 T and at number of rotations of ferromagnetic elements in reaction zone to 3,000 per minute inclusive, treatment of homogeneous mixture in rotating electromagnetic field is performed during time interval of 4–5 sec, during processing of homogeneous mixture, simultaneous supply of excess water into reaction zone in amount of not more than 20 vol% is provided, after treatment of homogeneous mixture in rotating electromagnetic field it is supplied for separation for separation of ferromagnetic nanoparticles, water and sediment.
