FIELD: powder metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: iron-based powder consists of particles of reduced copper oxide, diffusion bonded with surface of sprayed iron powder, wherein content of copper is 1–5 %. Maximum particle size of the iron-based powder is 250 mcm, at least 75 % less than 150 mcm and at most 30 % less than 45 mcm, apparent density is at least 2.70 g/cm3, oxygen content is at most 0.16 wt %, and content of other unavoidable impurities is at most 1 wt %. Powder based on iron has SSF-factor of at most 2.0, preferably at most 1.7, wherein SSF-factor is defined as ratio between content of Cu in weight % in that fraction of iron-based powder, which passes through 45 mcm sieve, and content of Cu in weight % in that fraction of iron-based powder, which does not pass through 45 mcm sieve.
EFFECT: diffusion bonded powder is suitable for production of components with high density in sintered state and minimum variation of copper content.
