FIELD: metallurgy.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a cast iron production method. Method of producing cast iron from pre-reduced iron ore comprises the following steps, where: (a) preparing a charge of pre-reduced iron ore (PIO), characterized by metal coating of more than 90 % and containing more than 2.8 wt % of carbon, wherein at least 80 % of said carbon are in iron-bound state in form of cementite Fe3C, (b) charging charge into electric arc furnace (EAF), (c) melting a charge in a melting chamber of an electric arc furnace (EAF) in a reducing atmosphere and with excess internal pressure generated by gases produced by reducing and flowing at step (c) reactions, to produce liquid cast iron with a predetermined carbon content, wherein at least 80 wt % of said predetermined carbon content in cast iron is obtained from carbon in a charge from pre-reduced iron ore, if necessary, to control carbon content in cast iron, step (b1) is carried out, at which carbon material is added to the mixture, wherein said step (b1) is carried out simultaneously with step (b), between steps (b) and (c), simultaneously with step (c) or after step (c). Iron is produced from pre-reduced iron ore with high content of carbon using electric arc furnace.
