FIELD: electricity.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to quality control of interaction of contact wire and current collectors of electric rolling stock. Method for temperature determination of degree of danger of current collection failure consists in receiving optical radiation from arc, spark or other discharge or thermal processes, including overload sparking, which arise in the current collection faults. At that, duration of occurred violation, speed of vehicle movement and values of electric current flowing during duration of violation are measured. Then, either the temperature of the individual points of the contact wire, or the averaged wire temperature, or the wire maximum temperature, after which the value of the calculated temperature T* is compared to several predetermined thresholds Tj, where j is a violation hazard level, taking values of 0, 1,…, n. If Tj≤T*<Tj+1, a decision is made on the level of danger j.
EFFECT: technical result of the invention is broader capabilities of diagnosing current collection faults.
