The method for determining the degree of danger of violation of current collection by mass consists in the fact that radiation is received from arc, spark or other discharge or thermal processes, including overload sparks arising from violations of current collection. In this case, the mass of the weakened or removed substance of the contact wire is obtained, after which the value of the obtained mass m* is compared with several predetermined thresholds mj, where j is the level of danger of violation, taking values 0, 1,..., n. Wherein mj<m*<mj+1, then a decision is made about the hazard level j.

EFFECT: expanding the possibilities of diagnosing current collection violations, increasing its efficiency, reliability and reliability.
