SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of manipulating tires. Technical result is achieved by a method of manipulating tires, which includes providing first movement of detection line (4) and bus (100) relative to each other to obtain data on position of first edge (106) of tire (100) relative to base (5) of counting by means of detection line (4). Providing second movement of detection line (4) and tire (100) relative to each other to obtain data on position of second edge (107) of tire (100) relative to base (5) of counting by means of detection line (4). Positioning of gripping device (6) and grip of tire (100) by means of gripping device (6) taking into account positions of said first and second edges (107) relative to base (5) of counting.
EFFECT: technical result is automation of auxiliary operations without increasing duration of pauses.
