SUBSTANCE: method and device for manufacturing tires for vehicle wheels. The method includes: assembling a green tire containing a carcass structure (101), a tread band (109) located at a radially outer location relative to the carcass structure (101), and two sidewalls (108) connected to the carcass structure (101) on opposite sides relative to the equatorial plane (M-M) of the green tire, providing a vulcanization mould (1) containing a first hollow mould half (50), a second hollow mould half (7) opposite to the first hollow mould half (50), and a crown portion of peripheral sectors (8), configured to mate with the first hollow mould (50) and the second hollow mould (7) to ensure airtightness when the vulcanization mould (1) is closed. Then placing at least one label (200) containing a layer of coloured cross-linkable elastomeric material (201) at a predetermined position on a first support surface (50a) formed in at least one of the first hollow mould (50) and the second hollow mould (7), wherein the first support surface (50a) has a predetermined profile of the first surface and holding it at least one label (200) in a predetermined position on the first support surface (50a). Next, placing the green tire inside the vulcanization mould (1) so that one of the sidewalls (108) of the green tire rests on the first support surface (50a) and closing the vulcanization mould (1). Then, co-vulcanization of the green tire and at least one label (200) is carried out inside the vulcanization mould (1), wherein at least one initial part of the co-vulcanization is performed while simultaneously holding at least one label (200) in predetermined position on the first supporting surface (50a). Moreover, placing at least one label (200) on the first supporting surface (50a) includes: placing at least one label (200) on the second supporting surface (60a) formed in the element (60) for transferring labels and having a profile of a second surface with a shape consistent with the profile shape of the first surface, moving at least one label (200) from the second support surface (60a) to the first support surface (50a).
EFFECT: ensuring the production of tires having on at least one of their sidewalls one or more white or coloured decorative elements - labels - that have good adhesion between the label and the sidewall of the tire.
