FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to orthodontics. Inter-root and inter-coronary measurements are performed before and after expansion. Above measurements are performed on the upper jaw model representing an upper jaw digital model superimposed by an oral scanning of the dentition and a computer tomogram. Then value of expansion of upper jaw is determined by crowns and by teeth roots in millimetres, where ΔX is an extension of teeth crowns in millimetres, ΔY is an extension of tooth roots in millimetres. If ΔX ≠ 0 and ΔY = 0, inclined nature of teeth displacement is determined. If ΔY ≠ 0, CAI - crown-apical index is calculated using formula CAI = ΔX/ΔY. If CAI value = 1, the corporal nature of teeth displacement is determined as a result of upper jaw expansion. In the CAI ≠ 1, the tooth displacement pattern is determined as being inclined-translational. In this case, the change in the dental implantation is determined by calculating the difference in the angles formed by the longitudinal axis of the tooth and perpendicular lowered on occlusal plane from root apex, before expansion and after expansion of upper jaw. After that, the obtained value is compared between the same teeth of the left and right dentitions, if observing the differences between them, the asymmetry of the teeth movement is determined with the expansion of the upper jaw.

EFFECT: method enables assessing the nature of movement of canines, premolars and molars, improving accuracy of arrangement of cephalometric points, assessing the effectiveness of the mechanics of operation of the applied distraction apparatus and the expansion results of the upper jaw without using absolute values.
