FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to medicine, namely to dentistry, and can be used for 3D planning and implementation of integrated orthognathic and orthodontic treatment. Method involves scanning a maxillofacial region and dental arches, forming initial 3D model and processing it in two steps. First, alignment of dental arches and determination of total volume of teeth movements, including the sum of angular and linear movements of each tooth, and then fragmentation of jaw bones with movement of obtained fragments into final position with provision of minimum value of total volume of teeth movements inside each of jaw fragments. Coordinates of centres of rotation of each tooth, sum of values of inclination and distances between centres of rotation are determined. In case of jaw bones fragmentation, position of jaw fragments is iteratively changed for aligned dental arch. Final position of the jaw fragments is selected at which the value of the total volume of tooth motions will have the minimum possible value. System for processing 3D model of a facial skeleton and dental arches of a patient includes a device for inputting patient data and outputting planning results and a memory unit, comprising machine-readable instructions executed by one or more processors, which, when executed, perform processing of initial 3D model in two said steps.
EFFECT: reducing the length of orthodontic treatment by optimizing the combined movement of the teeth inside each of the jaw fragments until the planned position of the teeth is achieved.
