SUBSTANCE: invention relates to direction of requesting, transmitting and using system information (SI) in wireless communication using a value tag in combination with transmission and/or processing system information in a wireless communication network, in particular in combination with system information of a second type or system information of a non-essential type. That is ensured by receiving from a base station a system information unit of a first type, having one or more tag values, and one or more system information blocks of a second type. Each of the value tags is associated with one corresponding unit of one or more system information blocks of a second type, each of which is a specific area or a specific cell and is valid within the zone or cell. System information blocks of the second type are stored and valid for each of them, based on the associated value tag and whether each of the stored second type information system blocks is a specific area or a specific cell. Using first-type system information unit for transmitting minimum system information, which contains at least information required for initial access.

EFFECT: high efficiency of transmitting system information blocks between a wireless access node and mobile terminal devices.
