SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to banknotes storage devices. Device for recycling of paper sheets comprises tape, drum and coil. Device preserves the paper sheet supplied from the outside by placing a paper sheet between the tapes and winding the paper sheet and tapes in a multilayer state onto the outer circumference of the drum. Device has a direction mark, having a pattern which is provided along the direction of movement of the belt and indicates a difference in the direction of motion of the belt. Device has a mark detection sensor which detects a direction mark and outputs a detection signal. Device comprises a unit for obtaining a pattern, which receives a signal based on the pattern in accordance with the direction of movement of the tape based on the time variation of the detection signal. Proposed device comprises motion direction determining unit that determines direction of belt motion on the basis of pattern-based signal. Device for processing paper sheets comprises a device for recycling paper sheets.
