SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to biotechnology and agriculture. Disclosed is an isolated strain of the species Variovorax sp. NRRL B-50469, having suppressing fusarium disease activity, compositions and methods using said strain. Method for preventing fusarium disease development involves growing a microbial strain or its culture in a growth medium or soil of a plant. Method of treating against fusarium disease development involves applying an effective amount of a microbial strain or its culture onto a plant or on its environment. Also disclosed are compositions for suppressing fusarium disease containing a microbial strain or its culture, a seed resistant to Fusarium fungus infection coated with a composition for covering seeds containing the composition.
EFFECT: inventions are effective in controlling fusarium disease of cereal plants, such as wheat and barley.
